    Maya Modelling Hammer Tutorial

In this tutorial we will be modeling a hammer with help of poly and subdiv.

{ Its always a good practice to have a reference photo or a dummy with so there be a more accuracy in your final output. }

Open up your maya application .

We have set our scene with the required tools we will be using in the modelling process, now step ahead and move to the scene.

As you can see in the image above I have cretated a cube {Create-Polygon Primitives-Cube} and scale '5' it in x direction.Like the image show below

Select the cube and open the attribute editor with the help of Ctrl+A and adjust its setting as the image show below

And now Right click on the cube select the vertex and adjust all vertex like the image show below.

Now click on Edit Mesh-Insert Edge Loop Tool

And make the create the edge as u can see in the image

Now select the faces between the first edge and second edge that you create and extract it

Now slect the centre face.

And extrude it like the image show below

And exturde it six times like the image

Now delete its history [Edit-Delete By Type-History]

Now freeze the transformation [Modify-Freeze Transormation]

now select the object and click the edge loop tool and create four edges like the image show below

Now create a Cylinder Primitives and adjust it like the image show you

And select it vertexs and adjust it like the image

Again click on edge loop tool and create the edge and adjust it

Create a cube and adjust it like the image

And modify it like the image show you below

Now again create cube and adjust it like image

And open up the attribute editor and adjust its setting

  Subdivisions Width - 6
Subdivisions Height - 6
Subdivisions Depth - 6

And now select the vertex with right click and adjust the vertexs like the image below

Now mirror this object By clicking Mesh-Mirror Geometry settings

Now adjust its Mirror direction to –y

Now you get that kind of an object

And now your hammer is aproxmetly complete

Now just select all the object one by one and modify it poly to subd
